When
Text Cleanup is running, my computer is beeping whenever I
cut or copy text. Why is it doing this?
This is normal. Most
likely you have the Auto Clean setting enabled, and Text
Cleanup is configured to play a sound whenever it cleans
text in the background.
Auto Clean may be turned
off either from the "Options" menu, or by
right-clicking on the system tray menu and choosing
"Auto Clean".
If you would like to keep
Auto Clean on, but just turn off the sound, choose
"Program Options" from either the
"Options" menu or system tray menu, then choose
"(none)" from the "Play this sound"
option.
What
I run Text Cleanup, it tells me that it can't enable the
Control-Alt-C hot-key. Is this a problem, and what
should I do?
This message is not an
indicator of a serious problem. It means that
another program is currently using this hot-key,
preventing Text Cleanup from using it. This message
may be seen when Text Cleanup is running more than
once. The first instance of Text Cleanup registers
the hot-key on the system, preventing the second instance
from doing so.
If Text Cleanup is not able
to enable the hot-key, then pressing Control-Alt-C in
another program to clean text will not work.
If you do not use the
hot-key, or want to make sure it's available for another
program, you can disable this option and get rid of the
error message. Just choose "Program
Options" from the "Options" menu or system
tray menu, and un-check the appropriate box.
When
using Auto Clean, I hear a several beeps whenever I clean
something, instead of a single beep. What's
happening?
This is caused by have more
than one instance of Text Cleanup running on the
computer. To fix the problem, close all but one copy
of Text Cleanup, or turn Auto Clean off on all copies.
In general, Auto Clean
should be off if more than one copy of Text Cleanup is
being run.
